Shark Attack! This Cool Cali Designer Cops The Givenchy Look For Less
We never advocate knockoffs. Ever. But there does seem to be a common zeitgeist that designers subconsciously tap into to bring us the hottest trends season after season (hello, floral denim for spring).
L.A.'s own Heather Gardner and Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci must have been on the same sweet wavelength with their shark tooth accessories this season, and we're so stoked that this month's rent check won't have to go mysteriously "missing" to get in on this under-the-sea style. For $255 (versus $892), Heather's bauble may not be as big, bold, or badass, but Vanessa Hudgens doesn't seem to care (she's been living in hers) ? and we don't want to go scaring anyone, anyway!

Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2012
>> If you've got to go, might as well do it with a bang. Or better yet, with an army of sharp-shouldered power women leading the charge.
For his last collection at Yves Saint Laurent, Stefano Pilati did just that. His coats, dresses, tops, and trousers were cut in strongly tailored '80s shapes - broad-topped, angular, and belted. Chainmail dresses, slinky jumpsuits, and asymmetrical furs felt darkly glam in dusky greens and inky blacks; and the house's Le Smoking was re-imagined in sharp swaths of silver or leather. It was tough, chic, and as confident as they come.
Pilati may be out, but he's not looking back.

Terry Richardson And A Shoe Fetish? Shocking?
Terry Richardson has both feet firmly planted on the ground ? or something. We love the glimpse of one of his latest ad campaigns to come out for Aldo. We have to admit, we're pretty stoked on the continuation of this relationship. There's just something about a shoe fetish and Terry that makes utter and complete sense.
In any case, in true Terry form the new spring campaign is shot in all sorts of bright poppy colors and is full of (not so) subtle sexual innuendos, making us itch for some major open-toe action and for the warmer climate to hurry up already. Also we have to admit, we're major fans of the sock and sandal action going on in the ad and video. It's such a cute throwback to vintage looks -- obviously once it's warm enough to shed our tights and go bare, we'll be rocking this look all the time.
Want more? Check out Anais Pouliot in the saucy video below doing a number on a popsicle. (Trust us, it'll heat you up in no time).

Are These The New Silly Bandz? The Webster Thinks So!
The idea behind the line is that there is no "right way" to wear Uno, which is why it comes in so many colors (lime green, sunflower yellow, aqua blue). Inspired by working in Miami, Pons wanted to create a product that is as diverse as the city in which he lives. So finally we can head into The Webster and get something that won't mean we can't eat out for the next three weeks ? and it's made by a local, too! Click through to see the amazing ways Luis suggests wearing his creations. Available at The Webster, 1220 Collins Avenue, 305-673-5548.

The Unexpected Icon: "Africolor"
From Stylist:
Africa, as a continent, has always been known for its bright, vivid colors -- seen in everything from vibrant woven textiles to lively painted buildings to the traditional way of dress. "Africolor," a new exhibition which opened at Danziger Projects in New York last week, focuses on these subjects, as well as its connections with color photography. The show features many works from Italian photographer Daniele Tamagni, as well as other European and African artists.

DANNIJO To Start Making Shoes; Calls Them "Jewelry For Your Feet"
The over-the-top, rock-'n'-roll jewelry brand DANNIJO has made their necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings some of the most sought-after baubles for women who are over the whole "understated" thing. In a collaboration with Matt Bernson, their shoes will be in the same vein: ?Shoes are the same as jewelry ? an emotional buy. You gravitate toward something different and unique. These shoes are more like jewelry for your feet,? says one-half of DANNIJO, Jodie Snyder. There will be five styles in all, which will range from $238 to $420, and will be available to purchase in August on mattbernson.com, shopbop.com, and dannijo.com. (WWD)

Marni Fall 2012
>> Consuelo Castiglioni's vision for Fall 2012 looks something like this: polished, bright, and just a tad '60s - with a dash of Orientalism thrown in for good measure. Solid hues -tomato red, camel, grey, and baby blue - provide a high-contrast colorblock palette, while python, plaid, gold jacquard, and patent leather offer texture. Silhouettes are boxy, layered, and slightly round-shouldered on top, with knee-length skirts and creased ankle trousers lending a sense of straight-cut stability on bottom. "I was interested in architecture and controlled lines," Castiglioni explained.
Clean lines aside, this wouldn't be Marni without a fair amount of quirk. This season, it came in the form of oversize utility pockets, fold-over fur collars, opaque white tights, and gold-tipped platform Mary Janes.
