World?s largest fashion trade show? There's a MAGIC app for that! (Appolicious)

Appolicious - While super-skinny models walk the catwalks of New York Fashion Week, fashion gurus are uniting in Las Vegas for MAGIC, the world?s largest fashion trade show. Specifically fashion buyers, brands, media and decision-makers hit Mandalay Bay and Las Vegas convention centers Feb. 13-15 to conduct and propel the business of fashion. You'll Never Guess Who's Running This Fashion Show (Hint: Prison Inmates!)

Maximum security is nothing new at fashion shows ? just try sneaking backstage without a press badge. But security is nowhere near as tight in the tents as it is at this designer presentation set inside a Philippines prison, which houses the most dangerous criminals in the country. In a trailer for The World's Most Fashionable Prison we get a glimpse at the life inside the walls of the facility and the man who's bringing real beauty to incarceration, one piece of chiffon at a time.

Thanks to the guidance of once-defamed designer Puey Quinones, the men who occupy the prison have turned their attention to the drawing boards and sewing stations to create a collection that's anything but orange jumpsuits. Think pretty red-carpet dresses, strapless numbers, and bright colors for the pieces that will walk the Project Bilibid Runway. Check the trailer below for a little taste of what could be the most unlikely future couturiers, and see the full documentary when it debuts this year.

DANNIJO To Start Making Shoes; Calls Them "Jewelry For Your Feet"

dannijo-1

The over-the-top, rock-'n'-roll jewelry brand DANNIJO has made their necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings some of the most sought-after baubles for women who are over the whole "understated" thing. In a collaboration with Matt Bernson, their shoes will be in the same vein: ?Shoes are the same as jewelry ? an emotional buy. You gravitate toward something different and unique. These shoes are more like jewelry for your feet,? says one-half of DANNIJO, Jodie Snyder.

There will be five styles in all, which will range from $238 to $420, and will be available to purchase in August on mattbernson.com, shopbop.com, and dannijo.com. (WWD)

Marni Fall 2012

>> Consuelo Castiglioni's vision for Fall 2012 looks something like this: polished, bright, and just a tad '60s - with a dash of Orientalism thrown in for good measure. Solid hues -tomato red, camel, grey, and baby blue - provide a high-contrast colorblock palette, while python, plaid, gold jacquard, and patent leather offer texture. Silhouettes are boxy, layered, and slightly round-shouldered on top, with knee-length skirts and creased ankle trousers lending a sense of straight-cut stability on bottom. "I was interested in architecture and controlled lines," Castiglioni explained.

Clean lines aside, this wouldn't be Marni without a fair amount of quirk. This season, it came in the form of oversize utility pockets, fold-over fur collars, opaque white tights, and gold-tipped platform Mary Janes.

Creep On Kate Moss (Like Really, SPY On Her) In The New Mango Campaign

Shot by Lord of the Creeps, Terry Richardson, the new Mango campaign begs us to spy on Kate Moss, as she gets dressed and undressed in a London apartment for our enjoyment (yep, there are de-pantsing scenes!).

Even though you might feel like you need a good, long shower after the video, the Mango clothes featured are decidedly un-creepy, with super-simple, won't-go-out-of-style pieces like crisp white blazers, thin T-shirts, skinny jeans, and tuxedo-style dresses that could take us from summer to winter, from now to eternity. Check out the video below, and click through for pics from the campaign!

We Know What We'll Be Living In This Fall: Creatures Of Comfort

If dainty Daisy Buchanan and the more androgynous-glam Katharine Hepburn played dress-up in each other's closets, the result would resemble something like L.A.'s own Creatures of Comfort's autumn awesomeness. Designer Jade Lai knows how to walk a timeless tightrope, toeing the line between flouncy flirtation and buttoned-up polish like no other.

With to-die-for blazers, billowy polka dot frocks, and a versatile palette of pretty hues, there's something for every aspiring style star in this fall showcase. If only those magenta silk trousers were going into production now ? we need them stat!

But once we finally do get our hands on them, watch out. We'll meet you somewhere between East Egg and that cottage on Golden Pond...

Two Hotties Run Stroll Walk UpSide DownSide

Check Out These Babies In Space ? Or, Um, Hovering In Midair

Some children spend their childhood with an old bath towel tossed over their shoulders and pool goggles over their eyes, pretending to take flight in the back yard (ahem guilty). Others actually get airborne. New York-based photographer Rachel Hulin has chronicled her son jet-setting (literally) over beaches, hotel room beds, and in front of sunny kitchen windows, in a series of whimsical pictures which kind of puts our youthful fantasies of flight to shame. The photos, which Hulin calls "The Flying Series," shows little Henry traversing various terrains in such a weightless and natural way that you can't help but wonder what kind of rigging or juggling went on in order to make these shots look so realistic. But, before you clutch your pearls and get the vapors, don't worry ? there was no actual tossing, throwing, or dangling of babies la Blanket Jackson going on here. As you might have guessed, this magic is due to Photoshop. And although that does kind of take away from the mystique, at least it's not being used in a body-chopping, proportion-disfiguring way. Godspeed, Henry, godspeed. (Design Taxi)

Beyonce Covers Complex

Filed under:

beyonce

Beyonce graces the cover of the August/September issue of Complex, which was designed by photographer Thierry Le Gouès and artist Ebon Heath. In discussing the release of her latest album '4,' Beyonce told Complex, "Everything sounds the same on the radio. With 4 I tried to mix R&B from the '70s and the '90s with rock 'n' roll and a lot of horns to create something new and exciting. I wanted musical changes, bridges, vibrata, live instrumentation, and classic songwriting." In the issue she also talks about husband Jay-Z, her upcoming 30th birthday and dispels rumors about bad relationships with Kelly Rowland, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

Bully Trailer: Documentary Loses Appeal of 'R' Rating

The trailer for Bully has been released, and the company that produced the film has lost its appeal of the R rating it believes will limit the documentary's appeal.

The film, about the epidemic of adolescent bullying in America, was rated R for “some language,” and The Weinstein Company hoped for a PG-13 rating.

It was not to be. Check out the two-minute preview below:

TWC co-chairman Harvey Weinstein and one of the bullied children in the film, Alex Libby, argued that an R rating would be counterproductive in that it would prevent Bully from reaching the adolescent audience that would most benefit from the movie.

The studio was planning on screening the documentary at middle and high schools.

However, for an MPAA rating to be overturned, a two-thirds vote is required, and Bully was one vote short. Following the decision, Weinstein released a statement saying that he is considering a leave of absence from the MPAA.

“We respect the MPAA and their process but feel this time it has just been a bridge too far,” said Weinstein. “I have been through many of these appeals."

"This one vote loss is a huge blow to me personally.

Awesome Thing You Didn't Know You Needed: Necklace Bookmarks

Italian brand CONIMATTA has been on our radar for a while now, thanks to its beautifully simple silk pieces in all their evocative, hand-painted glory (ahem, bugs, whiskers, and purposeful ?stains"). While those garments are definitely worthy of their own shout-out, it?s CONIMATTA?s bookmarks that have really stolen our attention. Yes, you read that correctly.

The Medusa bookmark (bronze/sage/black tassel)?which conveniently doubles as a necklace?is reminiscent of really nice window coverings; the Anemone bookmark mixes bright and muted colors to create a piece that is reminiscent of something you had in primary school, but decidedly next-level; and the Posidonia bookmark may be inspired by the sea, but it looks more like a cross between a cleaning brush and a high-end fetish object.

$24+ seems a steep price to pay for a bookmark, but we figure you might be more inclined to open up a for-pleasure tome when you?re marking your process with a little handmade help from Milan. More like coolly conceptual art pieces, CONIMATTA?s bookmarks might be enough to get e-reader enthusiasts to once again reach for those old-fashioned paper book things.
