Bethenny Frankel Leaving NYC for Los Angeles?

Bethenny Frankel Leaving NYC for Los Angeles?
Bethenny considers West Coast for family. New York moms know how tough it can be to raise little ones in the city: there's the stroller-on-the-subway-stairs thing, weather that plagues families with cabin fever, and never enough storage. New York native Bethenny Frankel says she and husband Jason Hoppy have had enough of the big city's small spaces, and before they have more kids, they may make a West Coast change.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Being The Bachelor: Get Me Outta Here!

In addition to Dancing With the Stars, which unveils its all-new cast tonight, Maksim Chmerkovskiy starred as The Bachelor in his native Ukraine.

Boy is he regretting that decision now.

Give him terrible tendinitis, put him in front of Len Goodman on his most crotchety day, even partner him with Kate Gosselin. Just get him on the floor.

"[It was] the hardest thing that I've ever done," Maksim says of being The Bachelor. "If I knew then what I know now, I would never have signed up."

Mad Maks

The ballroom dancer is not one to shy away from the attention of beautiful women, but Chmerkovskiy admits he may not have done his homework.

"I had never seen it," he says of The Bachelor. "I still knew what it was about. In theory you think you can do it, but you cannot realize how difficult it is."

Looking for love while being followed by cameras is one thing, but what Maks was not prepared for is that at seemingly every turn, he broke hearts.

"The fact that I had to choose people was something else," Chmerkovskiy said.

"People should never be lined up and chosen. We're not objects and not supposed to be lined up like that. It's terrible, it's like I was back in high school."

So did he dole out a final rose? He won't say, but Maks notes that being the Ukrainian Bachelor had a unexpected perk that may have changed his life.

"There was a psychiatrist on staff who I ended up speaking to everyday, and it was so therapeutic," he says. "It wasn't that I had issues to fix, but talking to a professional everyday really helped a lot, so that was an amazing experience."

That's good. Brad Womack can most likely attest to the same thing.

Speaking of, read The Bachelor spoilers here to see who Brad picks!

Misa Hylton-Brim Premieres "Madison Star" Clothing Label

Have a baby by me, baby, be a millionaire... or a fashion designer.

Which is exactly what Misa Hylton-Brim, first baby mama of Sean "Diddy" Combs, decided to do when she ventured from her styling roots into the world of fashion design. Madison Star, named after Hylton's daughter (not by Diddy), premiered in LA this past weekend amidst the ballers in town for All-Star Weekend.

Speaking of ballers, stylist Joe Exclusive and reality stars Hoopz ('Flavor of Love'), Natalie Nunn ('Bad Girls Club'-who took a break from running LA to stop by), Real & Chance ('Real Chance at Love 1 and 2), and Saaphyri ('Flavor of Love' & 'Charm School') were all in attendance. Hooray.

While not a plus-sized woman herself, Hylton stressed her desire to have all women represented in her line. "I wanted to include the forgotten girl, the girl who is left out in fashion. At the end of the day, I'm a woman's woman and I wanted all woman to feel good in their clothes."

All you really need to set a trend is accessories, apparently. When asked what staple item every woman should have in her closet in 2011, Hylton confidently replied, "A great pair of hoop earrings." Right. Looks like we're all doin' it to it, then.

After 18 years in the business, styling stars like Mary J. Blige, Chris Rock, and Kimora Lee Simmons, Hylton hopes to seek similar success with Madison Star, which will hit stores some time in 2011.
The runway was thoroughly stomped with bright graffiti colors, contrasted with stark black from head to toe. A favorite was a whimsical, beige, doily-esque summer dress, complete with a brown belt and adorable platform sandals.

Models were of varying sizes; all women were definitely accounted for as even Saaphyri modeled a few pieces. Once all the fashions were exhausted, Faith Evans popped on stage in a green Grecian-style dress and rocked the crowd with snippets of a few of her popular songs, including a duet with Carl Thomas. Faith looked great and seems to be doing well coming off her Grammy nomination. "We've got a lot on deck," she said all smiles and glistening from her short, but packed performance.

It was definitely an interesting night.

Q&A With Jeffrey Williams, Winner Of Bravo's 'The Fashion Show'

Filed under:

When designer Jeffrey Williams entered his audition for the second season of Bravo's 'The Fashion Show', he made up his mind that he was going to win - and win he did. The Seattle-born designer, who has made New York his home in recent years, used the inspiration and encouragement of his late mother to drive his winning collection. Still on a high from his success and trying to find some down time to let it all sink in, Williams told us what it was like to share his lifelong passion with millions of viewers and how an unexpected surprise from the Queen of R&B added to the surreality of his big victory.

Black Voices: How has the first couple of weeks been after winning the show?
Jeffrey Williams: People are taking pictures of me on the street a lot more now. It hasn't been weird; it's actually comforting. Everyone is so positive, they only say really sweet things. I could be walking around a little bit bummed because I had a long day or something and someone will come up and be like "oh my God you were so great on the show," so it's really great.

BV: In what ways did the experience of the competition prepare you for what's to come?
JW: I feel like everything helped prepare me. My mom invested so much into me and she really praised my talents, which were so natural and so effortless, so it was almost like it was okay to just be normal - my normal. That was a huge part that really helped me through the process. Plus, when you live in New York, everyone is in a rat race; everyone is working really hard and everyone has a goal, which is great. So going to school in New York really prepared me. Also, moving to Italy and learning different cultures, just traveling around really helped me to just slow down to see I can get stuff done in a good amount of time and still be able to relax.

BV: Did anything interesting happen behind the scenes that didn't make it on camera?
JW: There is a lot that you don't see. They literally film us from when we open our eyes to when we close our eyes. There is so many things that you don't see, it's wild.
BV: Was there anything surprising that you noticed while watching the show that you didn't realize during filming?
JW: You just go with it. Everything that I did on there was natural and organic so if I did say something that was terrible or came off weird, I still said it, regardless of how it was used. I didn't get to see the full show beforehand; I wish. I had a viewing party each week with close friends to watch each episode.

BV: How was it watching seeing yourself on the finale episode?
JW: The finale was like the Super Bowl. I had a huge party at my friend's restaurant. I was so emotional. There was a point when time stopped, I couldn't even hear the cheering, I couldn't hear anything.

BV: Do you remember what went through you head when you were announced as the winner?
JW: It was just such a relief. I kept telling myself 'you're going to win.' When I went into the first auditio,n I told myself that I wanted to win this show, as everyone does. But there was just something deep inside of me. I'm very competitive and when I say it I really feel like I've just gotta do it. My mom always taught me where there's a will there's a way, and I felt like when I got there I had a will and I had a way. My confidence was always challenged, but at the end of the day I just knew what I wanted.
BV: You mentioned that being in the bottom during the competition helped you to sit back and think about how you want to be perceived as a designer. How is that?
JW: Fashion plays a major role in everyone's life, you choose to look how you want to look and I like that aspect of that.

BV: What advice would you give aspiring designers who may be considering next seasons show?
JW: I think you just have to go with your gut. Always trust yourself. Remind yourself where you've been, where you want to be and where you are right now and you can do almost anything because you know what you want and what steps you need to take. Always be present in your life in the now moment. Remember that if you really want it, you can really have it. Don't ever take no for an answer. If someone tells you know, ask that person for three other people who may say yes.
BV: Who would you like to design an outfit for?
JW: Nicole Richie, Alex Chung, Michelle Obama, really just any confident woman who really enjoys fashion and being happy. I would love to design for Iman and Mary J. Blige too. Mary J. Blige is known for being so inspirational, living such a colorful life and and always coming out on top. You really notice that; she's very humble and down to earth. All of the responses that she had about my clothes were so positive. You can tell that she really knows what she's talking about and that she's worked with a lot of big designers.

I'm going to have a small feature in the March issue of Harper's Bazaar, and Mary J. Blige offered to wear my clothes for the piece (for the full story, go to harpersbazaar.com/jeffrey). That wasn't part of the prize. I was supposed to have a model, but she showed up and offered to wear my clothes for the shoot. I just could not believe it. She as just so warm and just we got to dance in the studio, it was really great to be able to share that experience with her. It was very humbling, it's wild.

BV: Who would be your ideal designer to collaborate with?
JW: Oh my God there are so many. Paul Poiret, I loved Alexander McQueen, right now I would love to work for Givenchy - that would be amazing. Alber Elbaz for Lanvin - you can tell that he really loves women in the way that he designs, and he really is kind and forgiving to women. That is something very important in women's wear - letting women know that they can trust you and that you are on their side. He does that so well. I would love to be in his presence and learn anything from him and work with him. I also love Miuccia Prada; she's always very modern, she has her own voices, comes up with her own fabrics and she's just incredible. I think it would be fun to work with John Galliano or Karl Lagerfeld, working under them and learning whatever I can from them.

BV: What's next on your agenda?
JW: I'm still designing, still consulting. I already showed my fall collection on TV, so right now I'm preparing for the next step. I may do a few pieces here and there, but right now I'll be focusing on spring. I'm still very young and there is still a lot more to show and a lot more to see. I feel so blessed to have been able to show a part of my life on TV. I'm excited for the next chapter. This is way more than I've ever had, but it's a small step. I feel like I've gotten to plant my little seed I will be growing my tree now.

Lil Wayne Detained, Released By DEA

Lil Wayne was swarmed by DEA agents at Opa-Loca Airport in Miami, but in a more surprising twist than learning he is not the father of a child, he was released.

The rapper was stopped and searched by federal agents after he got off his plane last week. Multiple agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency were involved.

Officials performed a contraband search on Lil, who's currently on felony probation stemming from incidents involving drugs and guns. Nothing was found!

Lil W.

PHEW: The agents let the rapper go on his way without incident.

It's unclear if they had a reason to search him, or if they even need one (in other words, is the fact that he's on probation sufficient cause any time they wish).

In any case, he may make it rain at the strip club and he may destroy your a$$ at Uno, but Weezy's been clean and sober as can be since getting out of jail.

Check out what we made with a few jewelry tools and a whole lot of hardware!

Here's what you'll need to make a modern circular necklace:

3 washers (donut shaped metal pieces)
16 inches of chain
3 1/2 ft. metal wire
clasp
jump ring
wire cutter
pliers

Step 1 - Cut your wire into three equal pieces, and start to wrap on end of the wire around through the center of the washer 3 times. Don't clip the end.

Step 2 - Attach another washer by repeating step 1 with the remaining wire still attached. Finish connecting the two by wrapping the wire around the base piece where the wire connects the two washer and clip the end.

Step 3 - Repeat step 1, once more so that all three washers are connected.

Step 4 - Attach the chain by wrapping your third piece of wire around one end of the washer several times then make a loop through your chain twisting it around the base that connects the two pieces. Clip off any excess wire.

Step 5 - Repeat step 4 on the remaining washer

Step 6 - Connect your clasp and jump ring and voila!

Alanis' amazing way with words Alanis Morrisette's taking it easy, now that she had an eight-week-old son, and it sounds like she's inspired to write some songs and get in touch with her emotions. Cute! I'm happy for her, but she looks darn tired since she gave birth. It's expected, but... she looks exhausted!

De-Clutter Your Home And Let It Shine!

Filed under:

In the fast-paced world we live in today, there's no wonder why organization of our homes can get a little out hand. Whether you're just too busy or too messy to pick the shirt up off the bedroom floor or move the week-old cup from the kitchen table, clutter will only do only one thing: keep you and your home from shining!

Here are some helpful tips on how to make your home - and, consequently, your mind - clutter-free!

Believe it or not, the environment we live in has a lot to do with how we function. It makes sense - it's the place where you start and end your day. The clutter around you sends a message to run away, but your home should be the place you can't wait to retreat to so you can unwind, let go and be inspired!

Let's look at some easy ways you can get started on polishing up each room in your house.

LIVING ROOM: The living room is a great place to start because it's most commonly the first room you see when you enter the home. One way to de-clutter this room is to maximize the space by moving furniture and/or accessories to other parts of the house. By doing this, you are re-organizing one room while adding an unexpected design element to another.

KITCHEN: I'm sure what's in your kitchen cabinets would surprise you: expired canned goods, opened bags of food, chipped dishes and the list can go on and on. You would be amazed at how much stuff needs to be thrown out. Organizing your cabinets can do wonders for your kitchen and diet! Try cabinet shelves like this one by Interdesign - you'll be able to see everything so items don't get lost!

BEDROOM: Well, here's the place where it can all come crashing down after a long day: the bedroom. Clothes everywhere, bed unmade, dust is piling up. What to do? Start by clearing off the bed and dressing it. Making the bed first somehow motivates me to keep cleaning. If storage for your clothes is an issue, go through your drawers and get rid of the things that you haven't worn in a while. If you don't want to give them away, check out these great storage solutions that can free up some space and look great on display.

BATHROOM: Now we're in the bathroom. In terms of your beloved toiletries, if it's softened, hardened or changed color, throw it out! The bathroom is where odor gets trapped, so keeping it clean is an absolute must. If you have space under your vanity, use plastic containers to organize your hair and body products. Also, remove and store some of the items that you don't use everyday from inside the shower or on the edge of the bathtub. Bring those items out only when you need to use them. The bathroom is an important part of your home, so give it the attention it deserves!

Well, now that we've cleaned up, organized and got rid of some things, don't you feel better already?

No matter how big your space, or your design style, living in a clutter-free home is the most beautiful look there is, so get started and let it shine!
